K-W Author Makes Novel Debut
Author Anne Holly excited to see her first full length novel released this week
Kitchener, Ontario – May 29, 2011 – Local teacher, author and mother Anne Holly has dreamt of being a published author since childhood. This week she sees her first full length novel, Strings Attached, released in e-book format from American publishers Wild Horse Press.
Strings Attached, a contemporary romance about a man recovering from the loss of his young daughter, was a long time in the making. Holly started writing the story in 2001 between university degrees, at a time when she was wondering which direction to take in life. She decided, and the novel was stored away when she entered graduate school. In 2010, after finishing her PhD, she dusted it off again. Now, a decade later, she finally gets to see how readers like her story of pain and redemption.
“Writing was a passion for me in high school,” Anne explains, “but academics drew all of my time and energy. Then, feeling a bit lost after finishing my PhD, I decided to see where I could take my old manuscript.” After substantial editing and re-writing, Holly submitted the novel to a small e-book romance company based in Tennessee, Wild Horse Press. Just a few weeks later, they offered her a contract.
“I was ecstatic when they replied,” the 33 year old mother of one recalls. “I never would have managed the novel without so much support from my high school teachers, so I am really pleased that I didn’t give up on that path. They were all certain I would be published – and now I can say they were right!”
Strings Attached may also be published in paperback later in 2011, depending on e-book sales, but Holly isn’t concerned. “E-books are doing really well right now,” she asserted. “Besides, while having a paperback with my name on it would thrill me, I can’t argue with saving a few trees.”
Strings Attached will be available through multiple venues, including Amazon, on May 31.
